We believe that All Vermont families should be treated equally and fairly in the eyes of the law. Providing full rights for some children and only some rights for other children is not the Vermont way.
As parents of gay and lesbian individuals, we want our children to grow up in an environment that fosters dignity, respect and equality. And as parents of adult children who are gay and lesbian we want our children to be afforded the same rights as their heterosexual siblings and friends.
Many Vermont parents and grandparents believe that all children deserve full protections and that all parents should have the right to fully protect and care for their children. Only when same-sex couples have the freedom to marry will our families be fully embraced and protected by Vermont laws.

If you are a parent or grandparent of a child (gay or straight), you can help today!
1. Sign our Parents' Statement – Sign the Vermont Parents' Statement in Support of Marriage Equality to demonstrate support for the fair and equal treatment of ALL Vermont children. We encourage ALL parents to sign, whether your child is gay or straight, young or old, etc.
2. Encourage 5 other parents or grandparents to sign. Ask 5 of your family members, friends or co-workers who are parents to sign the parents' statement. Download a sign up form and ask them to sign. You can return a copy of the completed form to the address at the top of the page.
3. Submit a Statement for Equality. As a parent or grandparent, your voice is important! We encourage you to share why you believe full, civil marriage rights for same-sex couples is important to Vermont families and children. You can share a personal story or a statement of support. We will post it on our website for people to become better informed about the freedom to marry and those who support it.

4. Submit your family photo. Your family photo can paint a picture of equality and fairness as important family values. Many Vermont parents with gay and lesbian children hope for a day when their children are treated equally and fairly. And, many Vermont parents value the fair and equal treatment of all Vermont children.
